Superman

Superman is by far my favorite superhero of all time. Sure, Spiderman and Batman have recently had some great movies, but in my opinion, none come even remotely close to Superman. Every since I was little, I remember getting excited about the "Superman Theme." I also remember running around the house with a Superman cape, pretending to fly and kick the bad guys butts. (shouldn't be that hard to remember, it was last week) That being said, you can imagine how excited and proud I was last night whenever my wife suggested we watch Superman: The Movie before we go to bed.

I must admit, I was as excited as when I was a child, partly for the same reasons. Who doesn't enjoy seeing Superman fly around and end up putting the evil Lex Luther in jail? It wasn't until a few years back that I began to see a connection between Superman and Jesus. It turns out that the creators and those that had early creative control over Superman used him to tell the story of Jesus. The story involves a Father sending His Son to Earth to save mankind. Knowing this made it that much more fun (and gave me more excuses) to watch these classic movies. Has anyone else seen the connection between Jesus and Superman?

Are you excited?

Are you excited about Heaven? What a simply, yet important question. I believe that many Christians live their lives without getting excited about Heaven. I was not excited. I was not excited because I was told that in Heaven we would be singing hymn, and maybe the occasional praise song. While that might interest some, this was not my idea of fun. It actually sounded BORING!!! Scripture says that Heaven will be better than where we are now (Philippians 1:23). In order to gain the full excitement that Heaven deserves, we must get past the misconceptions that the world tells us. Heaven is not a place that everyone will go (only those that accept Christ), all dogs will not go to Heaven, and it is far more that an everlasting sing-a-long. I hope you are getting as excited as I am.

It has been awhile...

First things first, I need to apologize for the lack of effort that I have put into this blog. It is my goal to update it more often, so tell you're friends that I am back. One of the reasons I decided to blog again is because I am excited about sharing some things that God keeps teaching me. For the next few weeks(although not everyday's blog), I will be revealing what God has been teaching me about Heaven. This is also a series I am starting with our youth group. I look forward to sharing... As for now, I will finish my preparation for tom. nights talk. Have a great day!

Good Friday

As a child, I would often question why was Good Friday called Good Friday. In fact, I would argue that it is very rare to have a bad Friday. If this Friday was so Good, then what made it good. The same can be questioned about what makes Sonic's Wacky Pack so stinkin' wacky. But we will save that for another day. After questioning many people, it was hard for anyone to give me a straight answer. Once I got the answer, it was difficult for me to understand why it was called Good.
Good Friday, the day that Christ was killed... If you were like me in my preteen age years, you might be having a difficult time with this title. The reason that Good Friday is in fact so Good is because it was the day that Jesus Christ gave the ultimate sacrifice, His life, out of love. He died because He loves. It was because He loves Brandon Bentley. It was because He loves you. It was because He loves everyone. While some might see this as a day of sorrow, I see it as a GOOD Friday!

A Big Week

This week is being remembered as the Holy Week. The week leading up to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This week, I can't help but be thankful that such a powerful God wanted a relationship so bad with me that He sent His only Son. It is also such an important event because it gave legitimacy to Christianity.
On a less serious note, it is also an amazing week because those Tennessee Volunteers begin there run for a national championship. GO VOLS!!!

Tonight I will be teaching a Bible study at GCC. And tom. I will be cheering for those Tennessee Volunteers in the SEC Tournament.
